Mac software, picked by a photographer

Privacy

I'll keep this as straightforward as an export preset. MacTorrentz holds very little about you, and most of that only if you choose to create an account.

Reading the site

Anyone can browse, and while you're just looking around, nothing from MacTorrentz lands in your browser as a cookie. On the server side there are the usual request logs, which record an IP address, the browser and the pages loaded. I use them to keep the site secure and to find out why something stopped working.

Creating an account

Signing up means the site holds a few things for you: the name you display, your email, your saved favourites, the comments you've written, your notifications and a hash of your password. The password itself is never saved anywhere.

Cookies once you're signed in

Signing in adds exactly two: one that keeps your session going from page to page, and a marker that lets the site know it's you when you come back. They aren't used for ads, and they don't follow you around the web.

Comments

Comments wait for my approval. During that check I see what you wrote, the name you post under, the email on the account and which page you commented on. The public side shows your words and your display name, nothing more.

Notifications

When an app you've saved is updated, the note shows up on the site itself. No newsletters, no promotional email.

What I'll never do

Sell your data, pass it to advertisers or add ad trackers to the site.

Deleting your data

Send a message to [email protected] using the email you registered with, say whether you want the account, the comments or everything gone, and I'll remove it.

Children

The site isn't for children, and I don't knowingly hold accounts for them.

Changes

Any update to this policy will be posted here.
