In the edit

Match any perspective in a single view. That is the idea behind Adobe Dimension, a tool that lets you place 2D logos or vector artwork onto 3D models and keep the lighting, shadows, and reflections looking natural. You get a straightforward way to build brand visualisations, product mockups, packaging designs, and other creative work without needing a full 3D pipeline.

  • Drag your own 2D artwork — logos, patterns, illustrations — onto pre-made 3D models and see how they wrap around curves, edges, and surfaces in real time.
  • Search and place Adobe Stock 3D models that are already optimised for Dimension, so you spend less time adjusting materials and more time composing the scene.
  • Combine 2D and 3D assets in a single canvas to create photorealistic scenes that mix flat graphics with dimensional objects, perfect for social media visuals or client presentations.
  • Work with a clean, minimal interface that hides the complexity of rendering engines and lets you focus on composition and lighting.

Browse starter assets right after installing

When you first open Adobe Dimension, take a moment to browse the starter assets that come with the install. Adobe includes a handful of basic 3D models and materials so you can experiment without hunting for content. Drag a simple shape into the scene, then apply one of the included materials to see how the lighting engine reacts. It is a fast way to understand how reflections and shadows behave before you bring in your own work.

Keep your 2D artwork at a reasonable resolution — 300 dpi or so — when placing it onto 3D models. Dimension handles vector artwork well, but a clean, high-quality source file makes the texture mapping look sharper when you zoom in for client review. If you are new to 3D, start with flat surfaces like signage or box mockups before moving to curved objects like bottles or spheres.

One scenario: a packaging designer's first brief

Imagine you work for a small branding studio and a client wants to see their new logo on a set of three different product bottles. You have the vector logo in Adobe Illustrator and a few reference photos of the bottles. In Dimension, you place a bottle-shaped 3D model from Adobe Stock, apply a glass or plastic material that matches the reference, and drag your logo artwork onto the label area. The software adjusts the perspective and shadows automatically so the logo curves around the bottle surface rather than sitting flat. Within a few minutes you have a realistic mockup you can export as a layered file for final polish in Photoshop. No need to learn a full 3D suite or wait for a render specialist.

Responsive scene building on Intel Macs

Adobe Dimension 4.1.7 runs on macOS 11 and later, and it is built for Intel-based Macs. The interface stays responsive during typical scene building — placing models, adjusting materials, and previewing the composition. That is normal behaviour for any 3D application that calculates reflections and shadows on the fly.

Dimension saves project files in its own format, and you can export scenes as PSD layers to continue editing in Photoshop. The app also loads previously saved documents without issue, so switching between projects mid-week is straightforward.

The January 2026 release focuses on security fixes, keeping the workflow stable for busy design seasons.

Questions I actually get

What is the main difference between Adobe Dimension and full 3D software like Blender?

Dimension is designed for graphic designers who need quick, photorealistic mockups and brand visualisations. It doesn't require learning complex modelling or animation workflows — you place your 2D artwork onto ready-made 3D models and adjust lighting and materials from a simple interface.
