In the edit
You steer Cuphead or Mugman through a hand-drawn world of watercolor backgrounds, running and gunning your way from one oversized boss to the next. Every encounter fills the screen with attacks, patterns and phases that demand quick reflexes and a willingness to try again. The goal is simple: collect soul contracts to repay a debt to the Devil.
Boss battles — the core of the game. Each one is a multi-phase fight against a character straight out of a 1930s cartoon, and most take up the entire display.
Run-and-gun levels — side-scrolling stages where you dodge obstacles and smaller enemies between bosses. Shorter than the main fights but just as intense.
Cooperative play — a second player can join as Mugman, making the chaos more manageable (or more chaotic).
The Delicious Last Course — an expansion that adds new bosses, a playable Ms. Chalice, and a new island to explore.
